BLN3 Connectivity

The Bradford Learning Network (BLN3) utilises the Public Services Network (PSN), meeting DfE guidelines for internet provision in Education and is future proofed for the rising demands that schools have on their internet connections.  The network also allows for non Bradford Authority Schools to benefit from the BLN3 service.  IPVPN connectivity allows schools to connect via virtual networks, enabling a secure sharing of data and systems.  We understand that schools need a secure and reliable service, especially as they start moving towards more cloud based services.

Schools are connected via an uncontended synchronous FTTP connection (Provided by Virgin Media) which links directly into the core BLN network and can be any size of bandwidth ranging from 10Mb to 1Gb.  Smaller educational establishments can be connected via a FTTC connection which also connects into the core of the network.

For the difference in a FTTC and FTTP connection please visit http://www.ticbradford.com/ict-guide

The table below outlines the costs for a range of the bandwidths that we are able to offer.  Please note that the prices are for the full package including a Smoothwall filtering/firewall device and connectivity into the core.  More information on these services can be found on the left hand menu.  If you are a part of a chain of schools or would like to discuss a more specific requirement please contact a member of the BLN team on 01274 434818.  For the price for a specific increment, if not listed below, please contact a member of the team on the number above.

Super Connected City Voucher Scheme

A number of suppliers are contacting schools informing them that they are eligible to take part in the ‘Super Connected City’ voucher scheme which pays for the installation of super-fast broadband.  Schools are not eligible for connection vouchers as they do not meet the criteria for being a Small/Medium Enterprise.
